Bobby Houseal Rawls, 77, of Pomaria, died Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at his residence with his family by his side.

Born on March 28, 1932, in Pomaria, he was a son of Vennie Graham Rawls and the late McDonald Rawls.  He was retired from Uniroyal, was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of Woodmen of the World.

Surviving in addition to his mother is his wife, Ethel Cromer Rawls; daughters, Barbara Ruff of Newberry, Judy (James) Long and Vickie (Mike) Clanton both of Pomaria; brothers, Sammy (Ella Margaret) Rawls of Pomaria and Tony (Gay) Rawls of Prosperity; grandchildren, Brad (Lauri) Ruff, Tammy (Chad) Morris, Greg (Tara) Stewart, Sherri Ruff, Wendy (Kevin) Shealy, Jason Ruff and Robbie Stewart and ten great-grandchildren.  Mr. Rawls was predeceased by a granddaughter, Terri Ann Ruff, a sons-in-law, Larry Stewart and Powell Ruff, sisters, Sadie Evelyn Rawls and Daphene R. Aull and a brother, Jacob Donald Rawls, Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at New Hope United Methodist Church by the Rev. Richard Goldie and Chaplain Ed Cheek. Burial will follow in Graham Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.  Memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 534 St. Andrews Road, Suite B, Columbia, SC 29210 or to New Hope United Methodist Church, 331 Holloway Street, Pomaria, SC 29126.
