Harvey Dow “Cush” Thomas, III, 57, of Leesville died November 25, 2016 at his residence.

Born in Newberry, he was a son of Harvey Dow Thomas, Jr. and the late Joy Willingham Thomas. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and was an Industrial Journeyman Electrician. He was a member of A.B.A.T.E. Cush loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles.

He is survived by his father, Harvey Dow Thomas, Jr.; sisters, Deidra (Keith) Bartley of Prosperity, and Darrah (Ronnie) Jones of Prosperity; brothers, Dodd Thomas of Leesville and Darron Thomas of Leesville; a niece Ashton Bartley; and nephews Austin Bartley and Seth Chick.

Memorial services will be conducted at 4:00 PM Monday November 28, 2016 at Faith Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to Brian Doyle, who is battling Pulmonary Fibrosis, 725 Caldwell Street Newberry, 29108 or c/o Stokes-Trainor, 2004 Wilson Road, Newberry, SC 29108

How fortunate I am to be able to say Dow was one of the best friends I could have had. He was such a free spirit with a love for life. I send my condolence to the family. Fly high my friend and I will remember all the amazing times we had over the years!

So sorry to hear about "Bill Brown". That is what I was told his name was when I first moved to Newberry and then he was "Cush". Dow was a good man. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you!

My friend from the past and always in my heart, Cush has never been forgotten. Life took me in a different direction, but I will hold all the good times in my heart forever. I would never had known such a great family as yours if it had not been for Cush. Yes, he was a free spirit and loved life one day at a time. May the peace of the Lord be with you all.

RIP Dow! Remembering great times we had growing up when we were very young. Fly high and enjoy all our family angels in heaven. You will be missed by many here on earth but knowing you have been healed by God and taken to your forever home is to be rejoiced. No more pain, no more struggles. Jimmy and I are so sorry to hear of Dow's passing. He called us last Friday night to invite us to his upcoming party on sad he didn't live to say goodbye to all his friends. We take comfort in knowing he knew our Lord after our conversation with him. We pray for comfort for the entire family. Dow will be missed.
