Anne Bedenbaugh Shealy, 88, widow of Heyward Glenn Shealy, of Little Mountain, died Wednesday, March 23, 2021, at her home surrounded by her daughters.

Born August 5, 1932, in Prosperity, South Carolina, her parents were the late Dhent Asbury Bedenbaugh and the late Laurie Dennis Bedenbaugh. Mrs. Shealy was a graduate of Prosperity High School and earned a BS Degree in Commerce from Winthrop College. Before her marriage she was employed with the District Manager of Palmetto Theatre Company in Columbia and the Savannah River Plant (Dupont) in Aiken. After marrying and relocating to Little Mountain, she was employed with Farm Bureau in Newberry and retired from Mid-Carolina High School in Prosperity. Between employments she was a homemaker and a mother to her children.

Her faith journey began at Zion United Methodist Church in Prosperity. As their children grew she and Heyward transferred their memberships to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Little Mountain. She was an active member there belonging to the WELCA Cooper Fuller Circle, the Happy Mountaineers, and serving faithfully in the choir for over 40 years. She enjoyed shagging and line dancing with the Happy Feet Line Dancers and the Lake Murray Line Dancers. She was an especially loving and giving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always desired to attend the activities of her grandchildren, never without a listening ear and an encouraging word. Her sweet spirit and cute sense of humor blessed all who knew her.

Surviving are her daughters and their spouses, Laurie (Bobby) Chapman of Little Mountain, Wanda (Fred) Andrieni of Atlanta, Georgia and daughter-in-law, Megan Shealy of Little Mountain. Her six grandchildren are Anna (Evan) Johnson of Saint Augustine, Florida, Robert (Tara) Chapman, Alaina Shealy, Rachel Shealy and Jacob Shealy all of Little Mountain and Brittany Andrieni of Atlanta. She leaves behind her two much adored great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Cameron Johnson of Saint Augustine. Also surviving are her sister-in-law, Alice Faye Bedenbaugh (Bob) Shealy and brother-in-law, Rodney (Margaret) Epting all of Prosperity and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son, Glenn Heyward Shealy. She was also predeceased by three brothers, Dennis Bedenbaugh, Jimmy Bedenbaugh and Harold Bedenbaugh, a sister, Merle Bedenbaugh Epting and sister-in-law, Eula Bedenbaugh. Her brother-in-law and sister-in-law of Wilmington, Delaware, Otis and Harriet Shealy, predeceased her as well.

Words cannot express the appreciation of those whose hands and hearts touched mom during this final journey of her life. Johnnie, Judy, Amy, Anita, Alison, Marilyn, and Becky. She loved and enjoyed each one of you. Also, our family extends our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at Amedisys Hospice – Avis, Ellie and Krista.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church conducted by the Reverend Brett Collins. Internment will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bobby Chapman, Fred Andrieni, Robert Chapman, Jacob Shealy, Evan Johnson and Malcolm Shealy.

The family is at her residence and will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Friday at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home in Newberry. Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund, PO Box 186, Little Mountain, SC 29075 or Zion United Methodist Church Music Fund, 80 Zion Circle, Prosperity, SC 29127.

I am deeply sorry for my belated condolences due to personal illness. Mrs. Anne was a lovely Christian lady. She went about her ways with a quietness but her life of family and Faith spoke loud. She was always kind to my family and me and was welcoming when I attended functions at her Church. Again I offer my apologies for the lateness in my tribute. May your memories of her be filled through a life well lived. Lee, Carol, Joseph, Amelia

Shealy Family,
We are so sorry for this tremendous loss to your family. I always enjoyed my years sitting by her in our church choir. Even after I stopped after having children she and I always spoke when she came around the church corner to where we all congregated after services. In this past year we lost our stalwart choir members of Mrs. Caroline, Mrs. Bettie, and now Mrs. Anne. Those were some wonderful memories for me personally.
Laurie and Bobby your family became part of ours during all the years when Breanne babysat Anna and Robert whom she absolutely adored ! Slap most seems like yesterday but now they’re all married with their own families. We are fortunate in that. Please know we love each of you and you’ll be in our thoughts and prayers as you continue to honor your mom.
May God provide the comfort you need at this time and going forward.
Love, hugs and prayers to ALL.

Kim & Ashleigh
Breanne, Jeremy & Aubree

What a sweet lady Ms Anne is. Although I wasn't around much I always remembered cutting up with her teasing about courting her. LOL I always loved talking with her. Now she resides with Jesus and she is fully restored to her witty beautiful self. Until we meet in heaven Ms. Anne I will miss you but will look forward to reuniting with you. Prayers to all of the family.
