Ashley Dean Long, 60, of Irmo, died Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at the home of his mother in Newberry.

Born on February 8, 1961, in Savannah, GA, he was the son of Bobbie Fuller Long and the late Young Derrieux Long. He was an assistant store manager for T.J. Maxx.

Dean is survived by his mother, Bobbie Long of Newberry; caregivers, Punk Beck and Dianne Bannister; aunts, uncles and a number of cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Glenn Street Baptist Church by the
Rev. Camden Bagwell. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will receive family and friends at the cemetery following the committal service. Memorials may be made to Glenn Street Baptist Church, 300 Glenn Street, Newberry, SC 29108.

Active pallbearers will be Clay Beck, Ronny Bannister, Charlie Summer, Jeremy Davis, Tommy Brewington and Todd Dipner.

Honorary pallbearers will be employees of T.J. Maxx.

Everyone is reminded of COVID 19 social distancing requirements and masks are encouraged.

Dean was an amazing person! He came to support our store on several occasions and I always loved getting a chance to work with him. He always taught me something new and it meant so much that he would take the time to show me different ways to do my work. He loved doing things for our company and was so proud of that, when he would visit my store I loved our talks and getting to see what new projects he was working on. I'm gonna miss you tons!

I did not know Dean well but have some great memories with him at Pride with TJ Maxx. He was unbelievably thoughtful and genuinely cared for people. He will be missed.

So sorry to hear of Dean’s passing. We worked together at the Sumter Kmart for many years. He was a good friend and confidant. May his family find peace in their memories of a fun loving young man. RIP my friend.
