Geraldine Riley Bedenbaugh, 81, of Prosperity , widow of Hubert M. Bedenbaugh, Sr., died February 13, 2010.

Born in Saluda County on August 25, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Joel Clinton Riley and Thelma Duffie Riley Hipp. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church.

She is survived by sons, Hubert M. Bedenbaugh, Jr. and wife, Anna of Newberry and Gerald R. Bedenbaugh and wife, Angie of Pomaria; a daughter, Yvonne B. Cockerill and husband, Bruce of Simpsonville; a brother, Frazier D. Riley and his wife, Nellie of Saluda; a sister, Kay R. Waites and husband, Frank of Lexington. She was the beloved grandmother to five grandchildren;: Andrea C. Kubach and husband, Kevin of Greenville, Jill Bedenbaugh of Chicago, Becky Bedenbaugh of Greenville and Julie and Garrett Bedenbaugh of Pomaria. She was the proud great-grandmother of one great-grandson, Aiden Riley Kubach.

She was pre-deceased by a sister, Dorothy Gray Kirkland, and a brother,Joel Clinton Riley, Jr.

Mrs. Bedenbaugh’s life was filled with love for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchild. Some of her greatest pleasures were spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild; gardening, and cooking her special recipes. Her yard was always filled with flowers, that she often shared with others.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday, February 15, 2010 at Zion United Methodist Church by the Rev. Lowry Drennen. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service in the church Family Life Center. Memorials may be made to Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 80 Zion Circle, Prosperity, SC 29127 or to the American Diabetes Association, 2711 Middleburg Drive, Suite 110, Columbia, SC 29204.

I was extremely sorry to hear about the death of Ms. Gerri. My deepest sympathy during this difficult time. May time and grief pass swiftly...may memories last forever. I worked for Mr. Bedenbaugh during his tenure with the school District of Newberry.

I was so saddened to hear of Ms. Gerri's passing. What a wonderful soul and such an inspiration to all who knew her. I have no doubt that all of Heaven welcomed her home. I can only pray that you feel God's love and grace during this period of human loss. My family and I will be praying for you.
