Founded over 70 years ago by L. Lee McSwain, the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home has worked through the years to provide Newberry and the surrounding communities with a caring and convenient funeral facility.

From its extensive facility, anchored by the old Ramage Home (circa 1850) in historic downtown Newberry, McSwain-Evans offers a variety of services and products that can be tailored to meet your needs.

Donna Perry a native of Greenwood joined our firm in October 2009 as a greeter.  She is a registered nurse who is a full time employee of the Newberry Council on Aging where she is  a home health coordinator.  Donna and her husband, Tom, have resided in Newberry for over 25 years and are very active in the community.  She is a member of Aveleigh Presbyterian Church and the Newberry Community Choir.  She and Tom have one daughter, Meagan, who is a college student.

Leigh Ringer is our AfterCare Coordinator.  She is assists caregivers and family members who have lost loved ones through the grieving process by providing information, emotional support, telephone contact, and limited grief counseling as requested by family members.  She and her husband Cecil reside in Boiling Springs, SC and is available as needed for grief support.  She is the coordinator of our Annual Memorial service held in November and has held workshops in Newberry for those desiring grief support through a group setting. William Lever a resident of Pomaria has been with our firm since 2006 after retiring from Food Lion after 21 years of service.  William is a member of First Baptist Church where he is on the usher board and helps conduct Sunday School at the local nursing homes each month.  He is the father of a son, Todd and has two step-daughters.

J.C. Doolittle has lived his entire live in Pomaria.  Following his graduation from Mid-Carolina High School, he entered the forestry business with his father.  In 1973, he formed his own company and headed that business until his retirement in May, 2008.  He is a member of Pomaria Lutheran Church, Pomaria Ruritan Club, SC Timber Producers Association and IPTAY.  He is a volunteer with Condolidated # 5 Fire Department.  J.C. is married to Charlsie Counts Doolittle and they have two daughters, Paige and Laura, and four grandchildren, Taylor, Madison, Harper and Daniel.  J.C. enjoys his grandchildren, Clemson football and basketball, and working in his yard. J.C.began working part-time with the firm in December of 2008.

Kennth Shealy resides in Prosperity and has been with our firm since 2001. He is a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.  He and his wife, Joyce, have one son, Kenny, and two granddaughters.  He retired from Kaywood in Joanna after 35 years. He attended school at St. Philips, Pomaria and graduated from Mid-Carolina High School. Kenneth enjoys the outside doing odd jobs around his home.  He is a regular Breakfast Club member around town.
