Mrs. Adell B. Stockman was born on December 17, 1933 in Chapin, and passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Julius P. and Lula Meetze Bickley.
She graduated Chapin High School in 1952 and worked in retail and insurance fields in Columbia until she met and married George William “Bill” Stockman. Together they raised four children and operated Stockman General Merchandise store for nearly 20 years. She also owned and operated poultry layer houses and received recognition for outstanding achievement in egg production in 1977. She loved to create her craft projects and earned many first and second place ribbons and several larger coveted purple ribbons for her quilts and other works.
Mrs. Adell Stockman is survived by her sons, Johnny (Beth) Stockman of Prosperity, Curtis Stockman and Charley Stockman and a daughter, Peggy Stockman all of Prosperity; a sister, Annie Ruth Farr of Little Mountain and a brother-in-law, Edwin Hook of Lexington; grandchildren, Colt (Lynn) Carricato and Chrysta Carricato; great-grandchildren, Austin Jacques and Braelyn Carricato. She was predeceased by her husband, George “Bill” Stockman, sisters, Earline Martin Boland, Rozelle Hook and Nezzie Lee Bickly and a brother, Herbert Bickley.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Dave Tholstrup. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends following the graveside service.

Active pallbearers will be Johnny Stockman, Curtis Stockman, Charley Stockman, Herbert Bickley, Jr., Colt Carricato, and Tim Stockman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Stockman, Ray Boland, Jr., J.E. Anderson, and Edwin Hook.
