Alton H. Piester

Alton Hawkins Piester, 77, of Newberry, died Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at his residence.

Born on May 18, 1945, in Newberry, he was the son of the late Edwin Eugene and Mary Lou Hawkins Piester. He had served in the S.C. National Guard and was the owner of Alton Piester Trucking. Mr. Piester was a member of St. Philip's Lutheran Church and the Faithful Servant Sunday School Class. He was also a volunteer with the St. Philip's Fire Department.

He is survived by a sister, Elma Jean Piester Beaty of Hickory, NC; grandsons, Danial (Katelyn) Piester of Newberry and Dalton Piester of Kingsport, TN and a grandson, Rylan Piester. Mr. Piester was predeceased by his sons, Brian Piester and Bond Piester.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, February 11, 2023, at St. Philip's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Terry Amick. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.
