Alvin David Connelly

Alvin David Connelly, 81, of Prosperity, widower of Susan Price Connelly, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2023, at Generations of Irmo.

Born on February 27, 1942, in Prosperity, he was a son of the late James and Mertie Hawkins Connelly. Mr. Connelly served in the Army National Guard for six years and was retired from South Carolina Electric & Gas. He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church where he had participated in the Lutheran Men in Mission. He was also a member of the Newberry American Legion Post # 24 and a longtime member of IPTAY. He was known for his mission to place American Flags on the graves of our military veterans.

Mr. Connelly is survived by a son, Jason (Melissa) Connelly of Prosperity; a sister, Edith ( Carlton) Hite of Prosperity; brothers, Roger Connelly of Chapin, Mitchel (Harriett) Connelly, Phil (Wanda) Connelly and Tim (Betty) Connelly all of Prosperity and a granddaughter, Everley Connelly. He was predeceased by a sister, Carolyn Kibler.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jason Schafer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall on Tuesday from 9:30 – 10:30 am.

Active pallbearers will be Travis Hite, David Kibler, Kevin Kibler, Michael Connelly, Kyle Connelly, Christopher Connelly and Jay Connelly.
