Ruth Ann Stone Felker, 81, of Newberry, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at her home.
Born on August 18, 1944, in Saluda, she was a daughter of the late Willie Simpson Stone and Jessie Mae Lott Stone Harmon. She was a 1962 graduate of Saluda High School and also graduated from the Greenwood College of Commerce. During Ann’s working career she had worked at Fort Jackson, the Social Security Administration, the U.S. Forest Service and retired as an instructional assistant at Speers Street Elementary.
Ann had been involved with the Newberry Garden Club and was a former 4-H leader. She was long-time member of The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer where she had been actively involved as long as her health permitted. She had served on numerous church committees over the years.
Ann was proud of receiving the “most improved bowler” award in her younger years.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Paul Edward Felker; a daughter, Jessica Ruth Felker and son-in-law, Brian Wheeler of Chapin; and an adored granddaughter, Belle Elizabeth Wheeler; sisters, Caroline Shealy and Mary Parr and brother-in-law, Bill Parr, all of Newberry; a nephew, Boyd Shealy and his family of Lexington; a brother-in-law, James T. Felker of Newberry.
She was predeceased by her step-father, Willie Harmon and in-laws, James and Ruth Felker.
Funeral services will be held at 4:30 pm Sunday, October 26, 2025, at The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer by the Rev. Matthew Titus. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the St. John Room in the Narthex of the church on Sunday from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm.
Memorials may be made to The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 1515 Boundary Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
Active pallbearers will be Brian Wheeler, Jimmy Felker, Bill Parr, Blake Chappell, Justin Setzler and Boyd Shealy.
Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of MSA Hospice and Glenda’s Care LLC, whom the family would like to thank for their love and care of Ann.
