Bloomer Frank “Jack” Hawkins, 95, of Newberry, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010 , in J. F. Hawkins Nursing Home.

Born in Newberry County , Mr. Hawkins was the son of the late Bloomer P. Hawkins and Mary Elizabeth Sligh Hawkins. He was the retired owner of H & H Machine and Welding, Inc. He was an active member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer as  long as his health permitted, a member of the Men’s Bible Class and a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great great-grandfather.

He was predeceased by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Eunice Harman Hawkins. He is survived by two daughters, Gloria Shealy of Walhalla, Anna Hope of Rock Hill, his son and daughter-in-law, Bernard and Faye Hawkins of Chapin; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; sister Elizabeth Shannon. He was predeceased by sons-in-law Rev. George Shealy and Ernest Hope; sisters Margaret Boozer, Lillie Waters, Sara Wessinger, Mary Sease and Ruth Lominack; and brothers George P. Hawkins, R. Dudley Hawkins, Carl W. Hawkins and Willie H. Hawkins.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 29, 2010 , at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM . A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM at the church by the Rev. Caldwell Day. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens .

The family would like to express their gratitude and love to the staff of J. F. Hawkins Nursing Home/Springfield Place, Dr. Michael Bernardo, Tri-County Hospice, especially Kelly, Laura, Linda, James and Alene, for their loving care. A special thanks to his devoted and faithful sister-in-law, Margaret Hawkins and niece, Rosemary Dominick.
