Barbara Jurgensmeyer

Barbara G. Jurgensmeyer, 76, of Maurertown, VA, died Saturday, October 12, 2013, at VCU Medical Center in Richmond, VA.

Born on August 11, 1937, in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Hugh Tankersley and Hazel Welch Hipp. She was a former Licensed Practical Nurse and later worked in retail sales with Nordstorm and Neiman Marcus department stores and also did wedding consultant work. She was a member of Heritage Wesleyan Methodist Church in Whitmire, SC. She was a loving wife, mother, and wonderful grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Donald N. Jurgensmeyer; a son, Michael Reed of Gaston, SC; a daughter, Susan Reed Hebert of Irmo, SC; sisters, Elizabeth Cross of Little Mountain, SC, Edith Kinard of Chapin, SC, Ruth McKee and Julia Satcher both of Newberry; a brother, Elmer J. Tankersley of Central, SC. and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, October 21, 2013, at Heritage Wesleyan Methodist Church in Whitmire, SC by the Rev. Mark Stevenson. Burial will follow in Whitmire Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3:00 – 6:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home in Newberry, SC and from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Monday at the church.

Active pallbearers will be Caleb Reed, Daniel Reed, James Reed, Joseph Hebert, Jennings Parker and Brian Jurgensmeyer.
