Barnette Adams Golden

Barnette Adams Golden, 94, of Anderson, SC, died Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at her home.

Born in Newberry, SC on December 10, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Olin James and Sumpter Schumpert Adams. Mrs. Golden was a member of Marshall Memorial United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School to kindergartners, delivered church material to the elderly and often drove the family truck picking up children in the area to take them to Bible School. She spent countless hours volunteering at Homeland Park and Varennes Elementary Schools. Mrs. Golden was a Girl Scout leader to an amazing group of young ladies with whom she still kept in touch to the end.

She is survived by daughters, Marie (Wendell) Partain of Starr, SC and Kristie (Grady) Halitwanger of Blythewood, SC; grandchildren, Wendy Forrester, Jerry (Jessica) Partain, Beth (Allen) Waters, Hank Haltiwanger and Adam Haltiwanger; five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Harry “Buddy” Golden, a son, Ernie Golden and a daughter, Nita Lynn Golden.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, October 15, 2022, at Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Friday at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Those desiring may make memorials to Marshall United Methodist Church, 135 Riley Street, Anderson, SC 29624 or to Eping Memorial United Methodist Church, 1401 Milligan Street, Newberry, SC 29108.

Active pallbearers will be Hank Haltiwanger, Adam Haltiwanger, Stephen Adams, Jimmy Stockman, Randy Stockman, Allen Waters, Jessy Partain and Morgan Forrester.
