Beatrice M. Riddle

Beatrice Mills Riddle, 91, of Newberry, widow of Claude William Riddle, Sr., passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024, at Generations of Chapin.


Born on June 10, 1932, in Newberry, she was a daughter of the later Benjamin Tillman and Juanita Long Mills. She retired as a USDA Food Inspector .  Mrs. Riddle was a member of Little River Dominick Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and honorably served as a Elder.


Family was a major part of her life as she embraced every opportunity to share her time as well as her talents of cooking and baking with family.  The most important aspect of her life was her faith in her Lord and Savior.  She loved listening to Gospel Music and watching ministers preach on television.


She is survived by sons, Mike (Jackie) Riddle of Chapin, Bill (Vicki) Riddle, Garry (Mary Nell) Riddle and Craig (Brenda) Riddle all of Newberry; a daughter, Gail (Jim) Benton of Prosperity; a sister, Barbara Riser of Kinards; a brother, Benjamin “Buck” Mills of Newberry; twelve grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by a sister, Cornelia Pitts.


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, February 2, 2024, at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jeff O'Dell.  Burial will follow in Little River Dominick Presbyterian Church Cemetery. 


The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Riddle and will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Little River Dominick Presbyterian Church, 8654 SC Highway 56, Kinards, SC 29355. 


Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Trey Riddle, Clay Riddle, Eric Riddle, Jeremy Medlock, Jerrad Riddle, Blake Riddle, Paul Riddle, Chad Riddle and Brad Riddle.


The family extend thanks to the staff of Generations of Chapin, the staff of MSA Hospice and to special caregivers, Thomasena Eigner, Willie Jean Maybin, Denise Pitts, Anita Fulmer, Kathy Tapia and Allison Manning for their loving care and attention given to Mrs. Bea.
