Bertha Kanipe

Bertha Smith Kanipe, 92, of Newberry, widow of George Kanipe, died Tuesday, August 17, 2010, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on January 31, 1918, in Clinton, she was a daughter of the late John Henry and Fannie Ophelia Puckett Smith. She worked with upholstery.

Surviving are her daughter, Pat Long of Newberry; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 20, 2010, at Newberry Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Charlie Clinton. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 3225 Sunset Blvd, Suite 100, West Columbia, SC 29169.
