Lida Elizabeth “Betsy” Floyd Black, 79, of Silverstreet, died Sunday, June 15, 2025, at her home.
Born on December 19, 1945, in Winnsboro, she was the daughter of the late John Spearman and Lucy Derrick Floyd. Betsy was a registered nurse that had worked at Newberry County Memorial Hospital and retired from Richland Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
She is survived by sons, Michael Wayne Black and Richard Raymond Black (Melissa); her daughter, Katie Black Hare (Gregg); seven grandchildren, Rachel Black, Della Curcio, Derek Senn, Jacob Black, Dawson Hare, Hunter Black, and Josh Black; two great-grandchildren, Sullivan Curcio and Kate Curcio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased on January 12, 2025, by her husband of 58 years, Wayne “Bo” Black. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Dr. John S. Floyd, Richard Floyd and Bill Floyd.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Trinity United Methodist Church by the Rev. Myra Taylor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Nursing Honor Guard rites will be rendered. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Asbury Hills Camp and Retreat Center, 150 Ausbury Driver, Cleveland, SC 29635.
Active pallbearers will be Gregg Hare, Derek Senn, Dawson Hare, Hunter Black, Dustin Floyd and Tory Floyd.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Worley, Jacob Black and Josh Black.
