Mary “Betty” Folk Hendrix Harmon, 92, of Newberry, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2026.

She was born on December 8, 1933, to the late Luther Hamilton Folk and Mary Lominick Folk. Betty was a devout Christian woman who loved her Lord above all else. She was a longtime and devoted member of Epting Memorial United Methodist Church until its closing. She loved singing in the choir and making memories with her church family. Betty left an impression on her family and many others as a selfless, faithful woman who cared for everyone in her life dearly. She truly loved being outdoors gardening, and her many camping trips with her family. Her favorite spot was Sycamore Lodge in North Carolina, where the pine trees around her made her feel like she was in the mountains. As those who knew her fondly remember, you never left Betty’s home without feeling loved, cared for, and probably having something to eat. Her chocolate bunny cakes were a staple of Easter celebrations and became a cherished family tradition that will continue to bring sweet memories of Betty.

She is survived by her son, James (Sheri) Hendrix; daughters, Vickie Ott and Wanda (Marty) Ruff; stepdaughters, Leigh (Alan) Davenport and Kathy Kunkle; sister, Martha Dominick; 13 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husbands, James Winston Hendrix, Sr. and Jimmy Lee Harmon; grandson, Christian Blake Hendrix; sisters, Peggy Boozer and Marion Kunkle; and brothers, James and Tommy Folk.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday, September 27, 2026, at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends the hour prior to the service.

Pall bearers will be Alan Davenport, Jonathan Davenport, Tyler Hamilton, Brock Hendrix, Wil Kunkle, Shannon Lockaby, and Matthew Ruff.
