Betty McCoig

Betty Childers McCoig, 89, of Prosperity, died Thursday, October 18, 2018 at the home of her daughter, Shelia.

Born in Glasgow, W.V., she was a daughter of the late Ottmer and Edna Rutledge Childers. She retired after 22 years of service from the Lowman Home. She loved cooking for her family and friends. She loved people and lived life to the fullest.

She is survived by sons, James E. Meade, Thomas Jeffery Meade, and Richard Delano McCoig; daughters, Shelia Johnson, Pamala Deloris McCoig, and Peggy Lee Chandley; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was the youngest daughter of 11 children and was predeceased by her 6 sisters and 4 brothers. Mrs. McCoig was predeceased by three husbands, Joseph Mroczhowski, William Thomas Meade, and Ralph B. McCoig, who she was married to for 50 years; and by a daughter Brenda Sue Livingston.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, October 21, 2018 at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Brett DeYoung. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00PM at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to a charity of ones choice.
