Brenda Merchant Amick, 79, of Prosperity, widow of Lealon Amick, died Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at National Health Care of Laurens.

Born on June 18, 1947, in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Norris L. and Jenny Ballard Merchant. Brenda worked for 35 years for Wal Mart as a Claims Associate. She was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Brantley Amick; a sister, Donna (Mike) Hall; grandchildren, Spencer (Leanna) Franklin, Maggie Rose Haupt and Chloe Elizabeth Haupt; step-grandchildren, Ann Marie Haupt and Bridgett Lassiter; a great-grandson, Elias Walton and nephews, Barry (Wanda) Hartman and Bryan (Gina) Hall.

Brenda was predeceased by a daughter, Stacy Marie Amick and a sister, Sue Hartman.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 6:00 – 7:00 pm at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.
