Calvin Morris

Calvin Eugene Morris, 85, of Prosperity, widower of Patricia Ann “Patsy” Summer Morris, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Prisma Health Baptist at Parkridge.


Born on January 28, 1938, in Prosperity, he was the son of the late Bluma Brown and Evelyn Morris. Mr. Morris had served in the S.C. National Guard and was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church.  He had worked for the Old School Manufacturing, Louis Rich and McKechnie.

He is survived by a granddaughter, Erica (Jonathan) Slatten of Little Mountain; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Morris of Prosperity; a brother, Terry Morris of Prosperity; grandchildren, Kinleigh Slatten, Reid Slatten and Chandler Slatten; sisters-in-law, Marie Anderson of Columbia and Dolly Welch of Savannah, GA.


Mr. Morris was predeceased by a son, Rocky Allen Morris and a sister, Shirley Cannon.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, January 26, 2024, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jason Schafer.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.


Memorials may be made to Queen Bees Softball Team of which his great-granddaughter is a member, by sending gifts c/o Ashley Khal, 174 Drafts Hollow Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.


Active pallbearers will be Jonathan Slatten, David Allen Cannon, Wayne Nichols, Josh Cannon, Benji Morris and Kendall Morris.


The family wishes to give a special thanks to the Nursing Staff at Prisma Health Baptist at Parkridge and to the hospice staff for their care and assistance.
