Listen to Obituary

Carol Sue Farr Sanders, 75, of Little Mountain, widow of Bobby Ray Sanders passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at J. F. Hawkins Nursing Home in Newberry.

Carol was born on June 20, 1950, she was the daughter of the late George B. “Nook” and Betty Bedenbaugh Farr. She grew up in Newberry County surrounded by the love of a large extended family where Sunday afternoons were spent playing outside with cousins or inside playing cards or board games. God and family were everything to Carol. She was a true caregiver, helping take care of her two brothers, Mike and Mark, who both suffered from Muscular Dystrophy. She continued to care for others throughout her life. She could always be depended upon to be there if she was needed.

Carol was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church in Prosperity as long as her health permitted. She had a beautiful voice as well as a beautiful heart, and she shared them both willingly. Her “mischievous “ side always showed itself when children were around. Setting off fireworks – she was there! The family never let her forget when she and her small cousins set the woods on fire.

Carol will be truly missed.

In addition to her husband and parents, Carol was predeceased by her two brothers, Mike Farr and Mark Farr. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Those who do survive her include an aunt, Kay Cumalander Richardson; cousins, Chris (Chris) Cumalander, Johnny (Betty) Cumalander, Lynn (Larry) Wessinger, Russell Warren, Frankie (Cindy) Farr and Judy (Duane) Powell, as well as numerous other cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, September 26, 2025, at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jimmy Counts. Burial will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the charity of ones choice.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at the funeral home.

Active pallbearers will be Allen Farr, Jon Paul, Cannon Paul, Bradley Cumalander, Greg Stewart,  and Johnny Cumalander.

The family would like to thank her caregivers at both Springfield Place and J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home for their loving care and concern. We only wish you could have known the “real” Carol before her illness took over.
