Carolyn Derrick Kibler, 86, of Prosperity, widow of David Anderson Kibler, died Monday, December 13, 2021 at Generations of Chapin.

Born on August 1, 1935 in Irmo, she was the daughter of the late James Harmon and Eloise Lowman Derrick. Mrs. Kibler was a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church where she served as a Weekday Church School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, and was a member of the women's circle. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed working in her garden and canning the vegetables that they grew. She and her husband, David loved traveling and square dancing with their friends.

She is survived by a son, Mark (Janet) Kibler of Prosperity and a daughter, Kay (Alford) Smith of Prosperity; grandchildren, Whitney Kibler, Derrick Kibler, and Lindsey (Andy) Longshore; great-grandchildren, Lainey and Evan Longshore.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm, Thursday, December 16, 2021 in the Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church Cemetery by the Rev. Rich Johnston. Due to Covid-19, the family asks that those attending to please remain in their vehicles and listen to the service on their radio at 87.9FM.

Following the service, those attending may drive by and speak to the family.

Memorials may be made to Little Mountain Rescue Squad, PO Box 8, Little Mountain, SC 29075 or to Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, 816 Mt. Tabor Road, Little Mountain, SC 29075.

Friends may stop by the funeral home between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm Wednesday to sign the guest register for Mrs. Kibler.

Active pall bearers: Steve Derrick, Craig Addy, Bruce Rister, Nathan Wicker, Wayne Achelpohl, Johnny Riddle, and Derrick Kibler.

The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Generations of Chapin and MSA Hospice for their loving care and support.
