Carroll Edward Sanders, Sr., 85 of Prosperity, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2026 at his home after a long illness.

Carroll was born in Union on May 30, 1940 to the late Ernest Edward and Pansy Knox Sanders. He graduated from Union High School and worked in Quality Control most of his working years. He was a member of Zion Methodist Church. Carroll loved to deer hunt and be on his tractor, and worked hard tending to his cows. He was also a proud family man who loved his family deeply, especially his great-grands.

Carroll is survived by his loving wife of almost 38 years, Beth Goff Sanders; his sons, Carroll E. Sanders, Jr. and Kenneth W. (Nora) Sanders; grandchildren, David Garner, Jamie (Sherie) Garner, Krystal (Josh) Cheatham, Gabrielle (Austin) Shealy, Hunter (Reagan) Sanders and Gavin Byrd; great-grandchildren, Madison (Spencer) Garner, Hannah (Aaron) Perkins, Caden Stephens, Waylon Shealy, Easton Cheatham, Wrenley Shealy and Blakely Cheatham; great-great grandchildren, Maisie Elliott and a baby boy due in June; daughters-in-law, Melissa (Ron) Byrd and Vickie Sanders; mother-in-law, Bernette O. Goff; brother-in-law, Monty (Louise) Goff; sister-in-law, Velvet Goff; nephew and niece, Pat (Kim) Goff and Pam Goff; great nephews, Brady and Case Goff, and many cherished friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, a daughter, a grandson, a daughter-in-law, 3 sisters, a brother, and his father-in-law.

Graveside services will be conducted at Nazareth Methodist Church Cemetery on Sunday, May 3, 2026 at 3:00 pm by the Reverend Nicky Long. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Those in attendance are asked to dress casually.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Garner, Josh Cheatham, Austin Shealy, Hunter Sanders, Pat Goff, and Brady Goff.
