Cecil George Fulmer, 77, of Newberry, died Monday, June 9, 2025 at his residence.
Born on August 2, 1947 in Newberry, he was a son of the late Heyward L. and Doris Helen Vaughn Fulmer. Mr. Fulmer received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Newberry College in 1969, a Master of Divinity degree from Duke University in 1972, and a Master of Education degree from the University of South Carolina in 1979. He taught chemistry and physics at Newberry High School for 27 years and had a tremendous impact on his students. He loved traveling the world and was a collector of European antiques. He was a student of Roman history and taught himself how to speak Italian. He loved art and music and was a member of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
He is survived by nieces and nephews, Larry Van (Rhonda) Fulmer, Cheryl Fulmer, Curtis (Muffy) Fulmer, Lonica (Lowell) Dowd, Elisha (James) Shinn, Gina Marie (Kira Bleu) Kirkland; a brother-in-law, Benji Kirkland; a sister-in-law, Neal Fulmer; his best friend, Henry Lowman; and many great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Larry Fulmer; his sister, Deborah Anne Kirkland; and by his dear great nephew, Alec Branch
