Charles Avery

Charles Milton Avery, 81, of Newberry, widower of Jackie Wesson Avery, died Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on January 20, 1938 in Spartanburg, he was a son of the late Charles Estes “Sleepy” and Vera Bouknight Avery. He was an Army veteran, retired from Torrington Company and was a member of Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church.

Mr. Avery is survived by a son, C.D. Avery and his fiancée, Gail Hendrix of Newberry; grandsons, Casey (Hayley) Avery, Zachary (Delilah) Avery and Justin Avery and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, July 29, 2019 at Newberry Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Jimmy Counts.
