Charles Leo Linton, 75, of Prosperity, widower of Tomiko Matayoshi Linton, died Thursday, May 21, 2020 at his residence.

Born on August 15, 1944 in Evansville, IN, he was a son of the late Thomas Leo and Opal Randolph Linton. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War and later retired from the United States Army. He was very active with the V.F.W. 6740 and the American Legion. He enjoyed music and had a love for blackberries.

He is survived by a son, Charles Linton of Atlanta; a daughter, Teresa (James) Metts of Prosperity; sisters, Charlotte, Sheri, and Nancy; grandchildren, Talo Linton, Alexis Lanier, Julian Lanier, Mackenzie Sutch, and Cade Metts. He was predeceased by brothers, Lloyd Linton and Wesley Linton.

Services will be conducted at 4:00 PM Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Due to COVID -19, we ask that those in attendance follow the guidelines set forth by the governor of South Carolina. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 508 Hampton Street, # 200, Columbia, SC 29201, American Diabetes Association, 107 Westpark Blvd, # 220, Columbia, SC 29210, or to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
