Charlie Beaman Summer, Jr., 72, of Newberry, widower of Donna Mack Summer, died Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at his home.
Born on June 15, 1953, in Newberry, he was the son of the late Charlie Beaman Summer, Sr. and Mary Elise Fuller Summer. Charlie had worked for Champion International and was the owner of Summer’s Taxidermy. He was a member of St. Philip’s Lutheran Church. Charlie cherished the opportunity that he had to provide guidance as a father figure to many over the years.
He is survived by sons, Charlie B. “Trey” Summer III (Lori Mills) and Jamie Mack Summer both of Newberry; a sister, Dianne (Ronnie) Bannister of Newberry; an aunt, Lavenia “Punk” Beck of Newberry, a granddaughter, Emmie Elise Summer; a nephew Chris Brooks (Terri); and a niece, Jodie Sease (Benji).
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, September 22, 2025, at St. Philip’s Lutheran Church by the Rev. Terry Amick. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be Philip Sligh, Scott Roton, Tommy Sease, Wayne Wicker, Michael Shealy, Steve Dominick, Justin Tedder and Ronnie Bannister.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Bernardo Hospice for their loving care given to Charlie during his illness.
