Katie Christine Wilson Dennis, 95, of Prosperity, widow of Jay Lee Dennis, died Monday, September 5, 2022, at Springfield Place.
Born on October 20, 1926, in Newberry County, she was a daughter of the late George Calhoun and Claudia Mae Long Wilson. She was a 1943 graduate of Stoney Hill High School. She was retired after working many years in the clothing industry where she had worked for companies that included Old School Manufacturing and Prosperity Manufacturing and also had worked at the Boundary Street Elementary Cafeteria.
Mrs. Dennis was an active member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church where she was involved with the New Horizons for as long as her health permitted. She was an active member of the Newberry County Council on Aging.
She loved to garden and was always ready for a good conversation.
Mrs. Dennis is survived by her twin sons, Don (Deborah) Dennis of Prosperty and Von (Kathy) Dennis of Newberry; a grandson, John (Julie) Dennis and two great-grandsons, John Luke Dennis and Mark Thomas Dennis. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Dennis was predeceased by siblings, Virginia Wicker, Ruby Chapman, Carolyn Norris, Mac Wilson, Woodrow Wilson and Clarence Wilson. She was also predeceased by a granddaughter, Ashley Virginia Dennis Stockton.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, September 8, 2022, at the St. Luke's Lutheran Church Cemetery by the Rev. Jason Schafer. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 42040, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-3000.
The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Bernardo and his staff, MSA Hospice and Unit 4 at Springfield Place for all the loving care extended to Mrs. Dennis during her brief illness.
