Clarence Edward Shealy, 86, of Newberry, widower of Ruth Amick Shealy, died Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on May 1, 1922 in Chapin, he was a son of the late Ardell and Bertha Sites Shealy. Mr. Shealy was retired from Kendall Company having worked at the Mollohon and Oakland Plants. He was a member of Summer Memorial Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his sons, Larry (Sarah) Shealy and C. Dale (Ann) Shealy both of Newberry; daughters, Peggy (Joe) Boozer of Prosperity and Cheri (Eddie) Malcom of Newberry; a sister, Susie S. Frick of Little Mountain; brothers, Charles F. Shealy and A.J. “Junior” Shealy both of Prosperity and Claude H. Shealy of Little Mountain; grandchildren, Michelle Long, Clay Shealy, Kelli Davenport, Kristi Shealy and Garrett Malcom; four great-grandchildren and two step-great-granddaughters. Mr. Shealy was predeceased by a son, Robert Edward Shealy, sisters, Helen Lindler and Myrtle Bouknight, brothers, Carl Shealy, Elton Shealy, Robert “Bob” Shealy and Lenard Shealy.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2009 at Summer Memorial Lutheran Church by the Rev. John Wertz. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Summer Memorial Lutheran Church Elevator Fund, 1609 Milligan Street, Newberry, SC 29108 or the charity of one’s choice.
