Clarence Wilbur Wilson of Prosperity SC formerly of Columbia, SC, died on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at The Hospice House of Laurens County in Clinton, SC. He is the widower of Jennie Ouzts Wilson, beloved wife of 64 years.

Born June 8, 1918 in Newberry County, he is the son of the late George Calhoun and Claudia Long Wilson. Mr. Wilson graduated from Stoney Hill High School and is retired from the US Army at Fort Jackson in Columbia, SC. He is a WWII veteran, having served in France and also in Germany. He was employed at Edisto Farms Dairy in Columbia and retired from W.O. Blackstone Plbg. and Heating Contractors also of Columbia.

Mr. Wilson was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Little Mountain, SC, where he was a member of The Men’s Sunday School Class and The Happy Mountaineers. He was a former charter member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Columbia.

Mr. Wilson is survived by a daughter, Claudia Jean Wilson Geddings of Pendleton, SC., son, Joseph “Joe” Clarence Wilson (Joy) of West Columbia, SC and son, George David Wilson (Terecia) of Prosperity, SC. Seven grandchildren, Amy Geddings Batson-Olive, Bill Geddings, Paul Wilson, Troy Wilson, Daniel Wilson, Patrick Wilson (presently serving in the middle east) and Benjamin Wilson, 2 great grandchildren, Taylor Batson and Lathen Bryan. He is survived by three sisters, Virginia Wicker and Carolyn Norris of Newberry, SC and Christine Dennis of Prosperity, SC.

He is predeceased by three siblings, Mack Wilson, Woodrow Wilson and Ruby Wilson Chapman.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 18, 2009 at 2 o’clock at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Little Mountain, SC, with burial immediately following at Little Stevens Creek Baptist Church in Edgefield, SC with full military rites.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 17, 2009 from 4 – 6:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home in Newberry, SC.
