Daisy Morris

d. July 22, 2020

Daisy Elector Minick Morris, 79, of Prosperity, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her residence on Tuesday, July 21, 2020.

Born on January 1, 1941 in Prosperity, she was a daughter of the late LeGrande and Sadie Hawkins Minick. She worked for Old School Manufacturing and Damon International before becoming a full-time homemaker and caregiver. Mrs. Morris was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church.

Anyone who knew Daisy knew one of the sweetest and most generous souls God ever created. She had a way of making everything around her be beautiful and grow, and everyone around her smile and feel joy in their hearts. She always used her many skills – sewing, cooking, gardening, and growing flowers, just to name a few – as a means of sharing God's bounty with others.

She is survived by her husband, Bobby F. Morris; a daughter, Tammy (John) Doke of Prosperity; sons, Wade (Wanda) Morris and Bobby M. Morris both of Prosperity; sisters, Peggie (Alan) Bickley, Ponzell Morris and Thelma (Larry) Morris all of Prosperity; grandchildren, Tamela (Michael) Cohen, Kevin (Brittany) Dorroh, Lori Smith and Kayla Hawkins and great-grandchildren, Anna Cohen, Waylon Cohen, Thomas Dorroh, Mary Dorroh, Madison Garner, Hannah Perkins, Bentley Hawkins and Annabelle Hawkins. Mrs. Morris was predeceased by a brother, Wayne Minick.

A private funeral service for immediate family who feel comfortable participating in an indoor worship service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, July 25, 2020 at Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jason Schafer. This service will also be streamed live on the "Mount Pilgrim Lutheran Church" Facebook page, and will be saved there for later viewing. The committal service for all family and friends will be held at 10:45 am at the St. Luke's Lutheran Church Cemetery. All attendees are asked to wear something red or with a floral theme to honor Daisy's love of the color red and all flowers. Due to COVID 19, social distancing requirements will be observed and masks are encouraged. Those who desire may also use umbrellas to provide personal shade.

Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 4056 St. Luke's Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127, the American Cancer Society, PO Box 1741, Greenwood, SC 29648 or the Newberry Hospital Financial Assistance Program.

Active pallbearers will be Benji Morris, Kendall Morris, Justin Morris, Tony Bickley, Donnie Hawkins, Jimmy Minick, and Ronnie Jones.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Spencer Lovelace, Dr. Mark Salley, Dr. Rajeev Vasudeva, Dr. Steven Madden, Dr. Mark Ezekiel, the Newberry Hospital Infusion Center nurses, Irene Whitmore, Crystal Rushton and Marla Gonzalez.
