Wyman Cook

David Wyman Cook, 93, of Prosperity, died Monday, July 4, 2022, at White Oak Manor.

Born on April 14, 1929, in Newberry, he was a son of the late Ira Frank and Eunice Buzhardt Cook. He was a US Air Force veteran. Mr. Cook retired from BellSouth and later operated Wydon Telco. He was a member of Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church. Mr. Cook was a member of the Prosperity Masonic Lodge, was an avid skeet shooter and loved playing golf. He had served twelve years on the Newberry County Council and served with numerous civic organizations throughout the community.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Emily Layton Cook; a grandson, David Wyman Cook III and great-grandchildren, Caleb Landen Chipman, Charliegh Faith Cook, David Wyman Cook IV and Wade Jones Cook and a sister, Allene Huffstetler.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Doris Wilson Cook, a son, David Wyman Cook II, a sister, Carolyn Shealy and brothers, Robert Cook and Richard Cook.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, July 7, 2022, at Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church Cemetery by the Rev. Floyd Sides. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church, 3074 Bachman Chapel Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.
