Doris Brown

Doris Ruth Taylor Brown, 87, of Newberry, widow of Henry W. Brown, died Monday, August 31, 2009 at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home.

Born on October 29, 1921 in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Joseph S. and Mamie Rister Taylor. She was a lifelong member of Mayer Memorial Lutheran Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher and a member of WELCA. Mrs. Brown loved God and her church.

Surviving is a son, Randall B. Brown of Newberry; a daughter, Judy (Larry) Wicker of Newberry; grandchildren, Kristen (Zach) Feldman of Middleburg, FL and Jonathan Gary Wicker of Newberry and a great-granddaughter, Rhanyn Grace Feldman. Mrs. Brown was predeceased by her siblings, Frank, Harold, Gerald and Virgil Taylor.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 4, 2009, at Mayer Memorial Lutheran Church by the Rev. Rodney Gunter and Rev. Dr. Mary Havens. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Wicker, 24385 US Highway 76, Newberry and they will receive friends at the church on Friday an hour before the service. Memorials may be made to Mayer Memorial Lutheran Church, 1307 Drayton Street, Newberry, SC 29108 or to St. James Lutheran Church, 228 Jalapa Road, Newberry, SC 29108.
