Dorothy Nell Metts Huffstetler, age 91, was reunited with loved ones in the arms of Jesus on Friday, February 13, 2026.

She was born in Newberry, SC in 1934, to the late Henry Elmer and Mabrie Lindler Metts. She attended Little Mountain school and graduated in 1952. Dorothy, or Dot as she preferred to be called, married her life mate, Clyde Lewis Huffstetler in November 1952. They worked together sawing trees for lumber to build their home in Chapin, where they raised their 4 children: Gail (Derrill) Cannon, Cathy Boland, Duane (Lisa) Huffstetler and Alan (Tina)Huffstetler. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years, caring for her children and teaching them to cook, clean, garden and to enjoy nature. She later worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield for 29 years until her retirement in 1997.

Dot had many hobbies in her lifetime, including reading, quilting, gardening, jewelry making, and playing Bingo. Most importantly she loved spoiling her 9 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren. She loved God and served her church as a teacher at Weekday Church School and Bible School. Dot was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School class, Primetimers, and Ladies Bible Study group, and was a founding member of the LCW Fellowship Circle. She was also a Cub Scout den mother for troop 380. She enjoyed sewing baptismal napkins for her church and crafted lap quilts and pillows, which she called “hugs”, for shut-ins, friends and family.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dot is preceded in death by brothers Richard, Howard, and Jimmy Metts; son-in-law Cal Boland; and granddaughter Mackenzie Huffstetler. She will be dearly missed by her children and grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Rose Metts; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 22 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Chapin with Pastor Chris Metze officiating. Visitation will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall. A private burial will be held later. Memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery or Technology Funds at 900 Dreher Island Rd, Chapin, SC 29036; or to Screaming Eagles Special Needs Athletics at 2240 US Hwy 76, Little Mountain, SC 29075.

The family expresses their sincere appreciation to the staff of Generations of Chapin and to Brandi, Brenda, and Melissa of MSA Hospice for their loving care and compassion during this last season of her life.
