Douglas M.
Kirk
January 27, 1959 – May 22, 2026
Douglas “Doug” M. Kirk Jr., age 67, passed away peacefully in his home in Newberry South Carolina on Friday, May 22, 2026. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Angie Williams Kirk, just eight days earlier on May 14, 2026 — a reunion many who loved them find peace in.
Born on January 27, 1959, in Cleveland, Ohio, Doug was the son of the late Douglas M. Kirk Sr. and Bonnie Kirk. He grew up with a strength and resilience that would define him his entire life. After years working as a crane operator in the steel industry, he took that same work ethic into his own business, D&G Reconditioning, where he handled upkeep and visual maintenance for semi trucks. He took pride in creating something of his own.
Doug was one of a kind — a hardheaded teddy bear with the biggest heart, a leader who didn’t take any crap from anyone and made sure the people he loved learned to stand up for themselves too. He was fiercely loyal, protective, and devoted. Whether it was coaching softball leagues, hauling band equipment, or showing up for every game, concert, and milestone, Doug was there. He wasn’t just a dad to his own children — he was there for his nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends helping guide them with the same steady presence.
He loved riding his motorcycle, finding freedom and joy on the open road. But above all, Doug’s greatest love was his wife Angie. Their bond was deep and unwavering. In his final years, despite chronic pain, he remained strong and endured until the end.
He is survived by his children: Talmadge (Azadeh) Rowe of Chapin, SC; Elysia E. (Demareo) Mingo of Newberry, SC; Nichole F. (Brandon) Robinson of Parma Heights, OH; Naomi (Jeremy) Johnson of Prosperity.
His sisters: Jo Ann Kirk of Brooklyn, OH, and Michelle (Dean) Spriggs of Toledo, OH.
Grandchildren: Jonathan Meetze, Cyrus Rowe, Skylar Rowe, Kylie Orozco, Brielle Mingo, Myles Mingo, Fallon Mingo, and Leo Robinson.
He was also a cherished uncle to Stephanie Marie Pawul, Deano Spriggs, Douglas Spriggs, and many more beloved family members and friends.
Doug’s family and friends will remember him as the toughest, most loving man they knew — “Dougie Fresh,or Bubby” the hardheaded teddy bear who was always there for his family, loved riding his motorcycle and taught everyone around him how to be strong while still leading with his heart. He may be gone from this earth, but the way he loved, protected, and showed up for his people will live on in every one of them.
