Dr. Bruce Everling

d. June 2, 2018

Dr. Bruce Walter Everling went through the veil peacefully Saturday June 2, at 1:15AM with his children at his bedside.

Born January 10, 1940 in Cleveland OH. Bruce was the second child of Walter and Jean Everling, who fled Germany in 1934 as the Nazi scourge arose in their country.

An insatiable learner, Bruce received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Ohio University In 1967. On the forefront of computer programming he worked with the EPA and as a business entrepreneur, inventing Hospital records keeping systems. Dr. Bruce was an intellect but chose a pious life. In 1997 he gave his life to the Lord and followed a Christian’s path -witnessing and evangelizing. Eventually he found his calling in the Mormon Church where he achieved “High Priest” status. Most will not remember him as Bruce Everling, but rather, “Bruce On The Bike”. As for the last 2 decades, regardless of the season or weather, he has travelled exclusively by bicycle. His tenacity shown through in the last hours of his life as he refused to give up or give in to the pneumonia that finally took him.

He is survived by his sister, Trudy Nash. His children; Derek Everling, Marie Kosmakos, Stacie Lindquist, and Kimberly Meisl. 12 Grand-Children, 1 Great Grandchild. Wife, Nene Everling Div. 1983.

A memorial service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 7449 Broad River Rd., Irmo Wednesday June 6, at 3:00PM. All who knew him are welcome.
