Earl Legrand Dominick, 82, of Newberry, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on July 11, 1943, in Prosperity, South Carolina, Earl was the son of the late Otis Lee Dominick and Marie Frazier Dominick.
Earl was a proud 1962 graduate of Newberry High School and a devoted member of Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church, where he faithfully served as an usher, trustee, and member of the Administrative Council. His faith, service, and commitment to his church family were a cornerstone of his life.
A proud patriot, Earl served his country in the United States Army and the South Carolina National Guard. He later dedicated over 30 years of service to the City of Newberry Fire Department, retiring as Assistant Chief. Throughout his career, he earned the respect and admiration of those who served alongside him through his leadership, integrity, and unwavering dedication to public service.
Earl was a Master Mason and a Life Member of Amity Lodge No. 87 in Newberry. He was also a Life Member of the Newberry York Rite Bodies, Life member of Hejaz Shriners, and the South Carolina Firemen’s Association. His commitment to brotherhood and community service left a lasting impact on countless lives.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56½ years, Gloria M. Dominick, and by his sons, Donnie Ray Carnes and Jesse Randolph Carnes.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Tommy Earl Dominick (Sherry); grandchildren Ashley Roberts (Adam), Kristy Peace (Justen), Crystal Carnes, Christy Eigner (Darron), Shawn Carnes (Linsay), Jennifer Craig (James), Brandan Carnes(Anne); fourteen great grands, one great-great-grandchild; and a host of extended family members, friends, fellow firefighters, church family, and Masonic brothers who will deeply miss his presence and guidance.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jimmy Counts. Entombment with Fire Department Honors, will follow in Pine Lawn Memory Gardens in Clinton. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Earl will be remembered for his servant’s heart, his dedication to family and community, his quiet strength, and the example he set for generations to follow. His legacy of faith, service, and love will continue to live on in all who knew him.
