Edgar Jones

Edgar David Jones, 81, of Prosperity, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on August 4, 1930, in Ninety Six, he was a son of the late Joe Jones and Modena Conyers Flessas. Mr. Jones was retired from PCA and later worked for Little River Marina. He was a former member of the S.C. National Guard and a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Moore Jones; a son, Danny (Donna) Jones of Prosperity; a daughter, Sherrie (Victor) Holland of Prosperity; sisters, Bonnie Amick of Chapin and Shirley (Joel) Perry of Pomaria; grandchildren, Jessica (Derrick) Milligan, Morgan (Kenny) Hallman, Melissa Jones Cumbie and Ian Stierwalt and great-grandchildren, Zachary, Haleigh and Taylor Cumbie.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 10, 2012, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jason Schafer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church Bus Fund, 4056 St. Luke's Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.
