Eloise Shealy Counts, 78, of Prosperity, died Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital..

Born on October 24, 1944 in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Jacob Leonard Shealy, Sr. and Myrtle Keisler Shealy. Eloise was a 1962 graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School. She was employed by Southern Bell from 1961- 1965 as a routing operator, switchboard operator and as an accounting clerk in Columbia and later as an operator in Charlotte. She was an employee of Norris Industries from 1992 to 1997 as Secretary to the Quality Control Manager. From 1997-2007, Eloise was employed by Nupac Services as Secretary to the Vice President and later as Administrative Assistant to the President of Pacific Nuclear. Eloise enjoyed participating in community activities, gardening, and traveling. She was an active member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church and the Young at Heart. She was also a member of the Newberry Roadrunners Travel Club.

She is survived by her husband, Donald R. Counts; sons, Edward D. Miller, Jr. (Rhonda) and Eric D. Miller (Nicki); a step-son, Donald Keith Counts; a step-daughter, Edie Diane Stockman (Bobby); a brother, Leonard Shealy (Vera); grandchildren, Aaron and Caitlin Stockman.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Sunday, February 5, 2023, at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, 816 Mt. Tabor Church Road, Little Mountain, SC 29075 or to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.

The family would like to thank the staff of Newberry County Memorial Hospital, the Oncology Department at MUSC, Dr. Steven Madden and staff at Newberry Oncology, Dr. Oscar Lovelace, Dr. Spencer Lovelace, and Betty Pelletier for their love and care.

Active pall bearers will be Bobby Stockman, David Shealy, Daniel Shealy, Danny Stuck, David Herlong, and Chase Shealy.

The family invites those unable to attend the funeral service to view at the funeral home prior to the day of service.
