Erik
Klauss
April 11, 1964 – April 6, 2026
Erik Klauss, age 61, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026 in Prosperity, SC, surrounded by his family. A devoted husband, proud father, and friend to all, Erik lived a life full of gratitude and selflessness, always putting others before himself and taking time to appreciate the little things.
Born in 1964 in California, Erik started his travel adventures early, spending time in the Philippines, Norway, and Spain while his father served in the Navy. After growing up in Seattle and attending the University of Washington, Erik started his career in sales, leading him to Arizona and Georgia. He’s achieved some impressive travel milestones over the years, backpacking through Europe and traveling to 49 states.
Although Erik was his birth name, he’s acquired countless names over the years - Daddio, Enrique, McGregor, Cream Corn Erik, Lego Larry, Uncle Erik, Weather Man, Ball Buddy (to his goldendoodle Louie), member of the Great Dane ‘Good Guys Club’, Treat Dealer, and the latest (and possibly his favorite), Pops.
His love for all things water has led to so many fun stories and memories - from sailing to Hawaii from Washington, to spending countless days cruising (and attempting to fish) the coastal waters of Savannah, to living the lake life on Lake Murray in South Carolina. Known for his world renowned flank steak, eclectic music collection, contagious laugh during game nights, and most importantly, his unwavering support, his zest for life and appreciation of time spent together will be remembered and carried on by his family and friends.
Erik was preceded in death by his father, William Klauss and is survived by his wife, Carrie Klauss, daughters Ariel Cagle (Sean Cagle), Lauren Klauss (Jack Dudley) and Connor Griffin, grandchildren, Camden Klauss Cagle and Stella Munro Dudley, and mother, Tove Lockhart (Dick Lockhart).
The family will be holding a small gathering to celebrate Erik’s amazing life and legacy. In honor of his strength in fighting the fight against cancer over the past two years, please consider making a donation in Erik’s name to St. Judes Children’s hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38101.
