Evelyn Maw

Evelyn Baker Maw, 85, of Newberry, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 20, 2025, at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home.

Born on July 25, 1940, in Whitmire, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Rosa Lee Bishop Baker. After graduation from Whitmire High School in 1958, she attended beauty school in Columbia SC. She and Lila Huffstetler Cromer opened the Style Shop together on August 9, 1967. Evelyn owned and operated the Style Shop until she retired in 2017. She enjoyed working as a beautician for 59 years. She was a lifelong member of Beth-Eden Lutheran Church. She loved her family and especially enjoyed cooking Sunday dinner for her family. She loved animals and had many special dogs and cats over the years.

Evelyn is survived by her husband of 62 years, Marion Daniel Maw; a daughter, Danielle (Steve) Quattlebaum of Newberry; a son, Danny (Monique) Maw of Newberry; grandchildren, Ashleigh Conaway and Johnathan Quattlebaum and great-grandchildren, Dylan, Landon and Winter.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home by the Rev. Rodney Gunter. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00 – 3:00 pm at the funeral home.
