Franklin Symmes Lloyd, 86, of Edisto Island, died Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at his residence.

Born on January 21, 1934, in St. Matthews, he was a son of the late William Homer and Lyra Octavia Wolfe Lloyd. Mr. Lloyd served 21 years in the SC Army National Guard where he served as an aircraft mechanic and a helicopter Pilot with the 51 st Aviation Company at McEntire Joint National Guard Base. After retiring from McEntire he worked for thirteen years at the Emergency Preparedness Divistion. He was a Master Mason and a member of the Omar Shrine Temple. Mr. Llloyd was a member of the Church of Christ of Edisto Island.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Wedaman Llloyd; sons, Steven L. Varnadore and Michael Lloyd; a daughter, Karen E. Suber and a grandson, Lucas G. Lloyd serving in the US Coast Guard. He was predeceased by a son, Franklin S. Lloyd, Jr and brothers, Ezra Lloyd and W. Harold Lloyd.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, December 11, 2020, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery by the Rev. Scott Killen.  Memorials may be made to Church of Christ, PO Box 62, Edisto Island, SC 29438.
