John Gary Werts, 62, of Newberry, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at his home.

Born on April 18, 1963, in Newberry, he was a son of Henry T. “Pat” and Mary Lee Coltrane Werts. Gary formerly worked for McKechnie Components and later did lawn maintenance. He was a member of Calvary Pentecostal Church.

In addition to his parents, Pat and Mary Lee Werts he is survived by his wife, Darlene Moates Werts; a son, Jason (Amanda) Werts of Newberry; a sister, Patricia (Ernie) Fulmer of Newberry; brothers, Lee (Tracy) Werts and Mike (Terry) Werts both of Newberry; grandchildren, Jackson Werts, Alyssa “A.J.” Werts and Allison Werts and his mother-in-law, Mary Sue Dowling of Chapin.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Gary’s Acres, 32 Railroad Avenue, Newberry, SC, by the Rev. Charlie Clinton.
