Gaynell Lake Amick, 94, of Prosperity peacefully entered eternal rest on Thursday February 5, 2026 at Springfield Place.

Gaynell was born November 17, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Herman and Enoree Lake. She was a 1949 graduate of Prosperity High School and often told she was a “forty niner”- the first 12th grade class that graduated from Prosperity High. She worked at Old School Manufacturing in Prosperity and was the secretary of A&L Logging as long as her health allowed.

Gaynell was of the Lutheran faith, a lifelong member of St Peter (Pineywoods) Lutheran Church and her life was quite the testimony of her beliefs. She was one of the founding members of the Fellowship Circle and taught Sunday School for many years. She instilled in her family that God always comes first, leading by example through her faith, kindness, and unwavering love. Above all else, her greatest joy was her family. She loved them fiercely and devoted her life to caring for those she held dear, always reminding them through both words and actions what truly mattered most.

She is survived by her son Ronnie Amick and daughter Patricia Amick; her twin granddaughters Kimberly (Clay) Smith and Dixie (Galen) Roche, grandchildren Tanya (Robert) Wallace and Kris (Kristi) Amick and their families; along with great grandchildren Hannah Chapman, Ali Chapman, Clayton Smith, Kaylynn (Caleb) Bowers, Brantlee Roche, and JT Roche . She is also survived by brothers Alton Lake and Larry (Emily) Lake, sister in law Martha Amick along with step grand daughter Ashley and step great granddaughter Natalie; nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Gaynell was predeceased by her husband J. Heyward Amick, daughter Lisa A. Mowbray, daughter in law Susie Amick, infant granddaughter Madelyn Smith, brother and sister law John (Bertha) Lake and sister in law Ruby Lake.

Visitation will be held at 1:00pm on Monday February 9th with service immediately following at 3:00 pm at St Peter “Pineywoods” Lutheran Church in Chapin officiated by Rev Dave Tholstrup with burial following at the Newberry Memorial Gardens.

Active Pallbearers will be: Tony Lake, Kevin Lake, Steven Lake, Stuart Lake, Tim Stockman, Harroll Stockman, and Carroll Stockman.

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Fellowship Circle of St Peter Lutheran Church and Unit IV staff of Springfield Place.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the care provided to Gaynell over the last few years at Jesse Frank Hawkins/ Springfield Place, Dr Spencer Lovelace, and Three Oaks Hospice. The unwavering love and care will never be forgotten.

Thank you McSwain- Evans for all of the care, compassion, and professionalism you showed our family during such a difficult time. Your kindness and attention to every detail brought us comfort when we needed it most. We are truly grateful for everything you did for us.
