George Adams

George Richard Adams, Jr. SFC U.S. Army Ret., 84, of Newberry died Thursday, December 20, 2018 .

Born on November 22, 1934 in Pulaski, TN, he was a son of the late George Richard Adams, Sr. and Jeffie Jean Davis Adams. He retired after 22 years of service with the United States Army and was a veteran of both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He also served with the City of Newberry Police Dept. and the Newberry County Sheriff's Dept. for a number of years. He later owned and operated Adams Air Conditioning Refrigeration and Appliance Service.

He is survived by a son, James Russell Adams; daughters, Jamie Laurie Adams, Shelly Adams, Deanna (Dee Dee) Baker, and Sylvia MacFarlane; two sisters, Glenda Wise and Betty Byrd. He was predeceased by wives, Mary Ann Mazza Adams and Sylvia Woodard Adams;a son, Jeff Adams; and brothers, Andy Adams, Dennis Adams, and Freddie Adams.

A private interment was held in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
