George Ellis Amick, 82, of Prosperity, died Friday, January 24, 2020 at Colonial Gardens Memory Care Center.

Born on October 7, 1937 in Newberry County, he was a son of the late Clinton and Elberta Lindler Amick. He was a member of Macedonia Lutheran Church where he was a former Youth Director, member of the Lutheran Men in Mission and the Golden Agers.

He retired from Allied Signal after 37 years of service. He was also a Military Police Officer in the Army during the 1960's.

He was predeceased by his wife, Louise Snelgrove Amick after 54 years of marriage and also by five siblings.

Mr. Amick is survived by sons, Larry Ellis (Stefanie) Amick of Leesville and Chad Eric Amick of Lexington; a daughter, Lisa (Carl) Baker of Prosperity; grandchildren, Justin (Rachel) Weatherford, Carley (Hugh) Kean, Sarah Amick and Tyler Amick; a great-granddaughter and a great-grandson and brothers, David Amick, Harvey Amick and Charlie Amick.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Macedonia Lutheran Church by the Rev. Eddie Miller and Rev. Marion Clark. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.Memorials may be made to Colonial Gardens Memory Care Center at 3565 Sunset Boulevard, West Columbia, SC 29169

Active pallbearers will be Mark Hipp, Richard Miller, Russell Bedenbaugh, Darvey Amick, Patrick Hawkins and Grady Dominick.
