Harriet Allen

Harriet Earwood Allen, 87, of Newberry, died Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at Lexington Medical Center.

Born on January 29, 1935, in Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late Melvin and Maude Harris Earwood. She was a member of Cross Point Church.

Mrs. Allen is survived by a son, William B. “Billy” (Pam) Branton of Newberry; daughters, Deborah B. Cassady and Angela E. (Lee) Chappell both of Newberry; a brother, Dewey (Marie) Earwood of Prosperity; step-children, Dan (Lesley) Allen and Family and Linda (Doug) Dreher and Family; grandchildren, Justin (Marlee) Branton, Jessica (Chris) Livingston and Katharine Chappell, great-grandchildren, Cole Livingston, Charlotte Livingston and Grayson Branton, numerous beloved nieces and nephews, and her special companion, Tucker. She was predeceased by husbands, William B. Branton, Sr., Bobby Long Epting and George Allen and siblings, Annie Mars, Joe Earwood and George Earwood.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, December 3, 2022, at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jeff O'Dell. The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Chappell, and they will receive friends following the service in the chapel.
