Helen May Denton Beebe, 92, of Leesville, widow of Robert “Bob” Beebe, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Generations of Batesburg.

Born on June 9, 1931, in Red Jacket, WV, she was a daughter of the late Asa May and Ethel McClanahan May Hall.  She was retired from AEL Insurance Company.  Mrs. Beebe was a faithful member of St. Luke’s Lutheran where she had served on the Church Council and was an integral part of the New Horizon Senior Group.  She was a cancer survivor who actively participated in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life and was involved with the St. Luke’s Church Cancer Support Group for many years.  For a number of years she served as the American Cancer Society Memorial chairman for Newberry County.

She loved everyone, especially her church family.  She has been described as a “handful” but in the best way.  Her presence always added joy and excitement to every group.  In her younger years she enjoyed square dancing and clogging.

Mrs. Beebe is survived by a son, William (Paula) Denton; daughters, Robin (Greg) Cameron, Ruth Brown, Suzanne (Dave) Major; twelve grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a brother and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, October 16, 2023, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jason Schafer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends following the service.  Memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 4056 St. Luke’s Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.
