Herman Graham Wicker, 85, of Newberry, died Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family after a brief illness.

Born in Pomaria on January 24, 1925, he was the son of the late Ernest Oliver and Mary Viola Graham Wicker. He was a graduate of Bush River High School and an Army veteran of World War II having served in the 95 th Infantry Division in Germany. He retired from Monsanto and was an active member of St. James Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Rachel Carolyn Wise Wicker; daughters, Edith Wicker (David) Henderson of Lyman and Beth Wicker (Kenneth) Inman of Pomaria; sons, Grady Daniel (Ann) Wicker, Kenneth Herman (Deborah) Wicker and Dale Harvey (Joyce) Wicker all of Newberry; sisters, Sunie Mills and Rebecca Gardner both of Newberry and Elizabeth Ruff of Irmo; brothers, Marion Wicker and James Wicker both of Newberry; grandchildren, Kyle Henderson, Kaci (Thomas) Cotter, Keri (Steven) Dover, Jeffrey Wicker, Jennifer (David) Hix, Denise (Greg) Evans, Dawn (Clay) Sallings, Deidra (Michael) Esakov, Ryan Wicker, Austin Wicker, Rachel Helen Wicker, Casey Inman, Katie Inman, Krista Inman; great-grandchildren, Bailee, Owen, Mia, Chloe Ann, Hampton, Graham, Anna Grace, Daphne, Gavin, Mackenzie.

He was predeceased by a sister, Mabel Gomes and brothers, Robert Wicker and Richard Wicker.

Funeral services will be Thursday, August 26, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church by the Rev. Rodney Gunter. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, 228 Jalapa Road, Newberry, SC 29108.
