Horace Wayne Richardson, 86, of Little Mountain, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at his home.
Born on March 18, 1939, in Prosperity, to the late Horace Clifford and Alda Ruth Long Richardson. Wayne worked for Kendall Company, Mollohon Plant until it closed and then he worked at ISE America until retirement. Following retirement he worked for a number of years at Jim Hudson Automotive.
He served in the South Carolina National Guard.
Wayne was a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church where he served in many capacities over the years. He had been a Sunday School teacher, a Councilman, and was treasurer of the cemetery fund.
His greatest pleasures in life were working in his yard and following his grandchildren as they participated in sports activities.
Wayne is survived by his wife of almost 29 years, Kay Bedenbaugh Cumalander Richardson; daughters, Susan Richardson Fulmer and Melanie Richardson (Eddy) Stone both of Prosperity; step sons, John (Betty) Cumalander of Little Mountain and Chris (Chris) Cumalander of Mountville; a special friend, Randy G. Frick; grandchildren, Erica S. (Douglas) Ard, Corey E. (Madison) Stone, Brittany (Jon) Paul, Bradley (Madison) Cumalander, Kelli Cumalander and Kayla (Cole) Calvert and great-grandchildren, Bentley Ard, Graham Ard, Cannon Paul, Cohen Paul, Campbell Paul, Brynleigh Cumalander and Jett Cumalander and one great-grandson son, Crew Stone due in July.
Wayne was predeceased by his first wife, Retha Long Richardson.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church by the Rev. Steve Counts. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
Memorials may be made to Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church General Fund, 816 Mt. Tabor Road, Little Mountain, SC 29075.
Active pallbearers will be Douglas Ard, Corey Stone, Bradley Cumalander, Eddy Stone, Randy Frick and John Cumalander.
Honorary pallbearers will be his nieces and nephews.
